Annual Appeal 2012 - Here's Your Chance!
Annual Appeal 2012
You make our mission and care possible. Your generosity helps provide dignity and comfort to thousands of people in our community. Arlene's story is just one example of the difference that your support makes to a family.
Please give today to ensure these services remain available to those
who need them.
“When hospice came, I thought I was dying. Instead they have given me more life.”
Arlene has spent her life caring for others. As a mother, she tended to her three children as well as a multitude of foster children. In the last few years, as a wife, Arlene and her husband have supported each other as they aged. Now, it is her turn.
Arlene learned about Hospice at Home when she went to the emergency room because she felt like she couldn't breathe.
She and her husband live in a small trailer in Hartford. In addition to physicians, nurses, aides, social workers, and spiritual care and bereavement support team members, a massage therapist goes to Arlene's home to reduce her stress and improve her comfort. A volunteer who plays guitar and sings has been to her home as well as another volunteer to provide respite care.
Arlene is eased knowing that if she is having difficulty breathing or experiences discomfort, the Hospice at Home team is only a phone call away.
At Hospice at Home, we are honored to do the work we do. When we are no longer caring for someone's body, we honor their spirit. When we can no longer hear someone's voice, we remember their message. And, when their heart is no longer with us, their love continues in ours.
Helping families cope successfully with suffering, confusion, doubts and fear is what we do. We are here to care for every person who needs us. Perhaps you have felt the benefits of our gentle, compassionate care during the loss of a loved one or close friend.
As your local non-profit hospice, Hospice at Home offers services that are far beyond what is reimbursed by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance. Your donations allow us to provide to anyone in need and no one is denied because of an inability to pay. Volunteer assistance, massage therapy, and additional caregiver support can only happen because our community supports us. Services that provide comfort and education such as massage, pet and aroma therapies, caregiver classes and our pre-hospice programs are only available because of the generosity of area residents. Our bereavement services are available to anyone in need. And, Lory's Place, our Grief Healing and Education Center, offers a free, safe place for children and families suffering a loss to begin to work through their pain and find a way forward.
You may have heard that Hospice at Home is now a Lakeland HealthCare affiliate. This partnership allows us to care for more people while expanding the services that we can provide together. However, we still need your support to make our care, programs and services possible. Please give with generosity so Hospice at Home can continue to make a difference. We are here to care for every person who needs us, and that is made possible by people like you. Please give today.
More ways to help
Your family, group or company can help make our hospice and bereavement services available to anyone in your community who needs them, and have a great time raising the funds in the process!
Car washes, rummage sales, lemonade stands, spaghetti dinners, golf outings - these are some of the many ways that people, groups and organizations in our community help us continue our care. Proceeds from these events help us provide community programs and complementary services at no charge.
We are happy to offer assistance to any organization or individual conducting a fundraiser to benefit our program services. If you are considering organizing a fundraising event, please contact us at 269-429-7100 or 800-717-3811.
Volunteers are essential to the financial health of Hospice at Home and
Lory's Place. Whether you provide direct services to patients and their families, or work behind the scenes to help with fundraising, assist with office tasks or on committees, your gift of a few hours a week, month or year allows us to free up financial resources to fund the projects and programs that have a deep impact on our community.
